Since 17th September to now, 3 babies have died and more than 6000 babies have fallen ill in China. Because of this, China have promised to do a thorough check of every dairy producer across the country. 2 out of 22 companies are found to have the contents of Melamine in their milk powder.
Melamine, an industrial chemical normally used to make plastics and glue appear to have be founded in the products. I feel that it is against moral values for any such chemical to appear in milk powder or if in any other cases, food product. This is not the first time that such incidents have happened in China. Some other examples of such incidents are, Melamine being found in pet food products that killed cats and dogs last year. Fishes that were contaminated with banned drugs, cough syrup made with poisonous chemicals and dumplings laced with pesticide were also being sold overseas.
This is a serious issue as it is concerning the lives of many innocent people. Personally, i feel that it is not fair to put other peoples lives at stake just for the cause of earning cash. The reason being the effects and problems that it bring is vast and may be uncontrollable at times if it is being spread world wide. Not only this being the reason, there is also a question concerning what others will think about the society itself. If they are able to put all these harmful substances in the food for people's consumption, that can cause the loss of life, then i think this statement says a lot about the society already.
But one thing still at least is that China is solving this issue. Although it has caused the loss of lives and illnesses among people, they are doing all they can to put a stop to this incident. Let's just wish that no such incidents will happen ever again.

Kallang Roar

This movie is recently being shown here in the cinemas. It is a film that is worth watching in my opinion. Directed by Cheng Ding An, it speaks of how football shapes a nation idendity.
Once a upon a time, football united people. People would gather together at a common TV set or make their way down to Kallang Stadium to watch how the Lions take on the Malaysian state team. Entire blocks would shout in jubilation whenever Singapore scored a goal. It was the healthy rivalry between both countries that united all the people together. It was the golden era of football.
Cheng Ding An has successfully captured the emotions and passions of viewers on and off the pitch. But beyond the game, the movie also showed the lives of some well known football heroes and legends in Singapore football history. Some had to bear the respoonsibilities of family whereas others had to deal with issues such as love and addictions.
Kallang Roar showed how a man's undying love for a country can inspire the whole country. But above all, the lessons that can be learnt from this movie is sacrifice and patience. In order to get some things in life, others have to be sacrificed and patience is definitely needed if success is wanted in life.
Quoted from Cheng Ding An, "Kallang Roar is a story that every taxi driver, kopitiam uncle and auntie, footballer, football fan, hero-worshipping teen, every family of all races who needs a movie on the Sunday for good sound values and family bonding, can enjoy and has been waiting all their life to watch."

He got the whole world in his hands.
This is an adidas advertisment used by the company to make their slogan "impossible is nothing" true. We see how slowly as the song progresses, more and more people just pile on top of the guy and he doesn't even feel a single bit of stress. What's more interesting is the song being played at the background, "he got the whole world in his hands". He literally had one whole bunch of people in his hands.
But i guess what can be gotten out from this advertisment is not only the humor but some lessons as well. Communication can be both verbal and non verbal and over here, is of course non verbal.
It is obvious what the company wants to tell the people by coming up with this ad. In my perspective, is to use their products and support them and that is Logos. At the same time, there is also an emotional appeal which is Pathos being used here. At least to me, humor is involved a slight bit in this ad and people are more willing to use their product because of that.
To end off, i think this is quite a brilliant ad cause it involves persuasion techniques that would or might change the perspective of a person when using or considering buying the product. And for this ad, it is a shoe. A shoe that can make the difference from carrying one person to a ton of people.
